Meshy skill for OpenClaw

Add the Meshy skill to OpenClaw so your agent can generate 3D models, textures, and animations, and prepare 3D prints, from a chat.

Overview

The Meshy skill is on ClawHub as Meshy 3D Agent. This one skill covers both workflows:

  • 3D generation: Text to 3D, Image to 3D, and Multi-Image to 3D, AI texturing and retexturing, remeshing to a polygon budget, UV unwrapping, auto-rigging and animation for humanoid characters, and export to GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, or USDZ.
  • 3D printing: printability analysis and repair, single-color and multicolor 3MF, sizing to real-world dimensions, Creative Lab products such as figurines, lamps, keychains, and fridge magnets, and handoff to an installed slicer such as Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, or Creality Print.

The skill runs the Meshy CLI, which is the meshy-cli package on npm. You sign in once in your browser, and you don't need an API key.

Before you begin

  • You need OpenClaw.

  • You need Node.js 22.12 or later, with npm, on the computer that runs OpenClaw. OpenClaw makes the skill available when meshy or npm is on PATH.

  • To generate models, you need a paid Meshy plan. Every generation task spends Meshy credits at API rates. For the cost of each task, see Pricing. Printability analysis is free, and local print steps, such as rescaling a model or opening it in a slicer, don't need a sign-in.

Install the skill

To install the skill from ClawHub, run the following command:

openclaw skills install @arlieeee/meshy-3d-agent

If the Meshy CLI isn't installed, OpenClaw's Skills page can offer to install it from npm. You don't need a global install. Without one, the skill runs the CLI through npm exec, and a global install only makes startup faster.

To let OpenClaw do the whole setup instead, paste the following text into a chat:

Help me install Meshy CLI and the meshy-3d-agent skills:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/meshy-dev/meshy-3d-agent/main/INSTALL.md

An open session picks up the skill on its next turn. If you installed Node.js or the Meshy CLI while a session was open, start a new session so OpenClaw finds them.

The first time you ask for a model, OpenClaw starts the Meshy CLI sign-in and sends you a link and a one-time code.

To sign in, follow these steps:

  1. Open the link on any device.

  2. If the page asks for a code, enter the code in Device code exactly as OpenClaw shows it, and then click Continue.

  3. If Meshy asks you to sign in, sign in to your Meshy account.

  4. On the Connect Meshy CLI page, click Connect. The page shows Meshy CLI authorized.

Connect Meshy CLI page with the signed-in account, the access the CLI gets, and the Cancel and Connect buttons

  5. Return to the chat. OpenClaw continues the request you made.

The code expires after 10 minutes. If it expires, ask OpenClaw for a new one. You can approve the sign-in from any browser, so it also works when OpenClaw runs on a server or in a container.

You don't need MESHY_API_KEY. If it's set, the CLI uses that API key instead of the browser session.

Example prompts

Describe the job in your own words. For example:

  • Make a 3D model of a baby husky and save it as GLB in ./assets.
  • Turn this photo into a textured 3D model and keep its proportions. (attach the image)
  • Rig this humanoid character, add a running animation, and export it as FBX.
  • Help me 3D print a small dragon figurine, 80 mm tall, and open it in Bambu Studio.
  • Turn this logo into a keychain I can 3D print.

Follow-up requests reuse the previous result, for example make a 1,500-face LOD, now as FBX, or scale it to 150 mm. To approve each paid step yourself, add ask me before spending credits to your request.

Security and data

The following list summarizes how the skill handles commands, credentials, network access, and files:

  • What it runs: Only the Meshy CLI, as meshy or as the pinned package through npm exec. The skill is Markdown only, with no Python, curl, or bundled scripts.
  • Credentials: The CLI stores and refreshes the session in ~/.config/meshy/credentials.json with mode 0600. The skill never reads, prints, or copies a token, device code, or key, and never asks for one in chat.
  • Network: The CLI sends prompts, images, and task requests to the Meshy API, normally api.meshy.ai. npm contacts its registry when it installs the CLI or runs it as a temporary package.
  • Files: Each job writes only inside one folder, the one you named or ./meshy_output. The CLI refuses paths outside that folder, and doesn't overwrite existing files unless you ask.

For the full security manifest, see meshy-openclaw on GitHub.

FAQ

What is the Meshy skill for OpenClaw?
Meshy 3D Agent is the Meshy skill on ClawHub. It lets an OpenClaw agent generate 3D models, textures, rigging, and animation, and prepare models for 3D printing, by running the Meshy CLI.
How do I install the Meshy skill in OpenClaw?
Run openclaw skills install @arlieeee/meshy-3d-agent. You also need Node.js 22.12 or later with npm. OpenClaw's Skills page can offer to install the Meshy CLI from npm.
Do I need a Meshy API key?
No. The skill signs in through your browser with a one-time code, and the Meshy CLI stores the session. You don't need MESHY_API_KEY, but if it's set, the Meshy CLI uses it instead.
Does the skill work when OpenClaw runs on a server?
Yes. The sign-in shows a link and a code that you can approve from any browser, so OpenClaw can run on a remote computer or in a container.
Is the Meshy skill free?
The skill is free to install. Generating 3D models requires a paid Meshy plan and spends Meshy credits at API rates. Printability analysis is free.
I used the older Python-based Meshy OpenClaw skill. Do my tasks still work?
Yes. The skill moved to the Meshy CLI in version 0.6.0, and you can still use task IDs from the old skill with the CLI.
