As Meshy releases new models, it retires older ones. Integrations that rely on an older model or API feature may need occasional updates to keep working. This page lists every API deprecation, along with its recommended replacement. --- ## Overview Meshy uses these terms to describe the lifecycle of a model or API feature: - **Active:** Fully supported and recommended for use. - **Legacy:** No longer receives updates and may be deprecated in the future. It still works, and nothing about your request or your bill changes. - **Deprecated:** Still works, but no longer recommended. Meshy names a recommended replacement and, once it is scheduled, a retirement date. - **Retired:** No longer available. Requests that use a retired model or feature return an error. Retiring a model doesn't delete what you already made with it. Tasks you created with a retired model stay available for the usual [retention period](/api/asset-retention). --- ## Migrating to Replacements Once a model is deprecated, move all your requests to its replacement before the retirement date. Requests that use the model after that date fail. A replacement can produce different results from the model it replaces. Test your integration with the replacement well before the retirement date, for example in the [Playground](/api/developer-platform#playground). --- ## Notifications Meshy announces every deprecation and retirement in the [Changelog](/api/changelog) and on this page. While a retirement is upcoming, a banner at the top of every API page shows it, and the endpoint pages mark the model or parameter as deprecated. Meshy announces a retirement date at least one month before the retirement. --- ## Best Practices 1. Check the [Changelog](/api/changelog) and this page regularly for deprecation updates. 2. Set `ai_model` to a specific model, such as `meshy-7.1`, if your integration needs consistent output. `latest` always points to the newest standard model, so its output changes when a new model is released. 3. Test your integration with the replacement well before the retirement date of your current model. 4. Update your code to use the recommended replacement as soon as possible. 5.
